For those less familiar with the Negreira case: Anyone who is genuinely interested in the Negreira case and is not among those who prejudge from the outset what they would like it to be, in one way or another, from minute one has to clearly see that there are pieces of evidence that clash and absolutely do not align with a case of competition tampering.1. Payments are made with legal and declared invoices. When someone wants to do something illegal, they usually don't issue an invoice and declare it.2. The annual amount of the payments is very low. The payments range, depending on the year, from 70,000€ to 700,000€. According to the Tax Agency, the entire destination of the money is verified except for amounts of 45,000€, the lowest year, to 210,000€, the highest year. With those amounts, not even a single match is bought.3. It is very difficult to believe that a situation that persists for 17 years escapes the knowledge of sports authorities and members of other clubs. Especially that of Real Madrid, which has many of the relevant positions filled by members, former players, former executives, or Madrid followers.4. Negreira himself, in his statement to the Tax Agency, justifies the reasons for the payments. These reasons are compatible with the amounts of the payments and are ratified by a document found in the home of the executive Josep Contreras.5. There is no referee charged. For there to be sports corruption, it is essential that there be referees involved, either because they directly received money or because they officiated in a biased manner due to interests or pressures. And there isn't a single one!6. During the "Negreira period," hundreds of referees have passed through the Referees Committee, and there is no statement from any of them indicating any sports alteration, not even an attempt at it.The advice consisted of the following:1. Going to see the matches, either in person or through fellow former referees.2. Preparing technical reports on the referees for each Barça match, both Barça B and Real Madrid, regarding their character and method of performance. There are reports (six per week, before and after the first team, reserve team, and Real Madrid matches) with a remarkable level of detail.3. Important general information: new regulations and refereeing instructions, meetings, keeping the club informed of potential interests or disagreements.4. Copies of the technical talks on the plays recorded for the referees.5. Weekly, and when there are Copa del Rey, European Cup, and other competition matches, video of each Barça and Barça B match regarding the refereeing decisions. Provide feedback on the matches regarding the refereeing and the players ("What FC Barcelona wanted was to ensure that no decisions were made against the club, that everything was neutral").6. Weekly, and during Copa del Rey, European Cup, and other competition matches, video footage of the opponent in each Barça and Barça B match, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, as well as the way the opponents play.7. Monitoring players of interest to Barça, both nationally and internationally. The theory that competition manipulation stems from payments to referees is untenable because:1. There is evidence of tasks assigned and carried out by Negreira, which can be adjusted to the amount of these payments, at least part of them.2. The amount of the payments is too low to be able to buy referees. According to the Treasury's own conclusions, at most €216,000 could have been used for this purpose (the highest amount in the year), as this is the total amount of untraceable cash withdrawals, as they were withdrawn in cash.3. The Treasury itself, after investigating all bank transactions, concludes that no payments to any referee have been made.4. No referee has been charged. If you have an "X" account, follow Miguel Galan (@MiguelGalanCNFE) / X.
