The Mets have until 5pm Monday to decide on Munetaka Murakami
But it goes both ways, SteveLike, yeah the team is on paper worse so far, but there a big theme of those against this team right now (A) consistently behaving as if the off-season is already over and (B) a clear disregard for the very many metrics that say that the team was far better than their 83 wins last year. (A) Seems to be directly fueled by the general sadness over the decision to separate from the core far less than actual analysis of the situation. That'sy read at least, specifically that the bad feelings about said separation is coloring the read of what remains. It's valid, but perhaps not entirety objective. (B) I certainly appreciate why some would not buy into them, what I personally find frustrating is the immediate and complete disregard for such metrics with deep cuts like 'but 83 wins!' and 'boy genius' and 'small market GM'. That shit is lazy and inflammatory and we both know it. Basically, there are A LOT of bad faith arguments coming from those who are frustrated with the direction, not all but a pretty damn clear majority of late. One of the core tenets of AA is to back up your opinions with actual data and that just isn't occurring with any sort of frequency. In turn, it should come as no surprise that those on the other side of that argument, who are consistently providing that data to back up their position that maybe the sky isn't actually falling, might be a touch exhausted by the woodwork posts of the billyc's that have spawned up with such fervor of late. AA has long been my refuge from the that animosity-based fandom that is so prevalent in sports, and basically surrounds me wherever I go to try to enjoy my team. And I get the strong suspicion that I am not alone in that feeling. So it is disheartening when I see that pure animosity start to bleed in here, and no one should have to apologize for being protective of it.
0Mets Morning News: I Love Being a Met
I'd be annoyed tooThe man has done nothing but invest a bajillion dollars into this team, and he finds himself having to fight off accusations of being a cheapskate because folks can't seem understand that the Mets cost/benefit analysis is more complicated than 'sign errybody'.
